Amazon Prime Video

The American company joins the various manufacturers of televisions
and should in the future offer 8K content on Amazon Prime Video
, his service video streaming
.

If the 8K models represent a tiny share of worldwide sales of televisions, the various players are preparing to quickly offer programs adapted to this new screen definition.

Amazon Prime Video will use its weight to drag production houses to 8K

This is how we learn that Amazon has joined the 8K Association and therefore other important players in the television world such as Samsung, Panasonic, IMAX and Google.

Amazon’s goal is twofold. First, to encourage production houses to provide 8K content, by adapting the technical specifications that the American giant imposes on its partners offering their films and series exclusively.

The second stage of the rocket will be to offer, in the coming months, an 8K section inside Amazon Prime Video so that owners of 8K televisions can easily and quickly enjoy streaming content.

At the same time, the 8K Association announced changes in the criteria for certification of televisions. From now on ALLM and VRR technologies will be compulsory to display the precious badge. The models will also have to offer the ACR, to Ambient Contrast Ratio, which consists of adapting the contrast of the image according to the reflectance index of the television set, in addition to the ambient brightness.
