The Acolyte (Disney+): the next Star Wars series could be released sooner than expected

Disney+’s next Star Wars series may be closer than you think. Indeed, according to our colleagues from the Collider site, the series The Acolyteannounced for the summer, could be released earlier than expected… and be available on the platform from June 5, 2024.

A century before the Skywalker saga

The information has not yet been made official by Disney, but if the release takes place in June, it would come three and a half months after that of the last production of the franchise on the service streaming, season 3 of The Bad Batch. And more or less a month after the famous Star Wars Day, which is held every year on May 4, and which is always the occasion for big announcements on the Star Wars universe.

This future series created by Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) takes place during the last days of the High Republic, i.e. 100 years before the events of the Star Wars prelogy, and therefore the beginning of the Skywalker saga.

It will narrate the adventures of a former Padawan and her Jedi master, as they investigate a series of crimes. The two heroines will quickly discover that the powers they face are more formidable than expected. A series with a unique “investigation and thriller” tone in the saga.

The series will include eight episodes directed by Headland and Alex Garcia Lopez (The Witcher). The series can also count on a promising international cast, including Dafne Keen (Logan), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give), Lee Jung-Jae (Squid Game), Carrie-Ann Moss (Matrix) and Joonas Suotamo (Solo: A Star Wars Story).

The Acolyte is not the only Star Wars series expected on Disney+ in 2024, since Skeleton Crew with Jude Law is also announced for the fall. So to be continued.
