It is a page that turns for two historical actors of French capitalism. This Tuesday, January 18, Veolia officially takes control of Suez. If we go back in history, Générale des Eaux, created in 1853, therefore gets its hands on Lyonnaise des Eaux, founded in 1880. This takeover is the marshal’s baton of Antoine Frérot, the CEO from Veolia. The manager triggered the operation on August 30, 2020, announcing his intention to buy out Engie’s stake in Suez and then launch a takeover bid on the balance of the capital. From July 1, he will retain the presidency of the company, but will entrust the general management to Estelle Brachlianoff, until then deputy general manager.
