Nordahl Lelandais is on trial for the kidnapping and murder of little Maëlys. The investigation uncovered videos on his mobile phone where the defendant films himself sexually assaulting his two little cousins eight days before. Aged four and six, the two little girls were asleep at the time of the incident. Called to the bar, the mother of these children, cousin of Nordahl Lelandais, says that she got along very well with the defendant. She has since cut all ties.
For his part, Lelandais explains that he has done work on himself concerning his pedophile inclinations, which he recognizes. He had the image of the sympathetic cousin, of the one who gives presents to the children. The president asks him: “The one who takes action, is it the benevolent uncle who is trusted, the nice godfather who gives gifts?” Lelandais responds “Hardly, yes. There is only one me.”
