Few of the leaders of technology companies share their opinion on the products of competing brands. Nevertheless, for a few months, Carl Pei, the founder of Nothing, has lent himself to the exercise. On the manufacturer’s YouTube channel, he had the opportunity to give his opinion on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, the OnePlus 11 and the iPhone 14 Pro.
The last video of this kind goes a little further since Carl Pei is now attacking another behemoth, but in the field of audio: the AirPods Pro 2. It must be said that Nothing has also been offering, for a month, a new pair of wireless headphones also integrating an active noise reduction function, the Nothing ear (2).

It’s easy to make something like the AirPods Pro 2. It’s much more complicated to make something transparent like the Nothing ear (2). We thought a lot about giving up. The main concern is that there are a lot of transparent elements, and when this is the case not only must it look good on the surface, but also on the inside, since any dust will be visible . Our manufacturing processor is crazy. If you visit the production lines there is as much humidity as in a rainforest with a central humidifier with brown coming out of it and most stations have their own humidifiers to make sure the dust settles.
Overall, as usual, Carl Pei is very honest, even if he is obviously going to preach for his parish by suggesting that the Nothing ear (2) are more original and more effective in differentiating themselves from the many buyers of AirPods. Last interesting element, the founder of Nothing indicates that his headphones are mostly used by iPhone owners, ahead of Android smartphone owners.
