Looking for a lost object is never a source of pleasure, quite the contrary. But fortunately, we live in a time that simplifies this. Within the Apple ecosystem, you’ve probably heard of the AirTag, a small device capable of helping you find your lost items. Well, if you were waiting for a new version to take the plunge, know that at the moment nothing is certain yet…

Will the all-found accessory to find everything be entitled to a new iteration?

“Break the habit of losing everything”

Launched in April 2021, the AirTag is a small accessory that allows you to easily find your lost items. To do this, you just have to attach the tracker to your keys, for example, or slip it into your wallet. By opening the “Locate” application on your iPhone, you will then be able to detect all of your personal effects accompanied by an AirTag. It also offers various useful features, such as the ability to ring it or tell you the exact distance to it.

But more than a year after the deployment of the AirTag, the Apple brand has, to date, never publicly mentioned the possibility of launching a new generation of its tracker. If it has since received many updates, the question of an AirTag 2 would currently be asked within the Apple teams.

AirTag 2: a reality, on one condition?

As the media reports TechRadar, a famous Apple analyst named Ming-Chi Kuo, would have gotten wind of some rumors about the possibility of seeing, one day, a new version of the AirTag appear on the market. According to his information, at the time these lines are written, nothing is certain yet. It would indeed depend on the growth that Apple’s tracker will encounter in the coming months.

In 2021, more than 20 million AirTags would have been shipped worldwide. And, according to some estimates, the device could reach 35 million by the end of 2022. Also according to information held by Ming-Chi Kuo, if this growth continues, the AirTag 2 could well and indeed become a reality in the relatively near future. This would also be the one and only condition for the latter to see the light of day.

If sales of the device have not made a phenomenal leap in recent weeks, they are at least regular. Moreover, more and more users of Apple devices would become aware of the usefulness of the product, but also of its simplicity in terms of configuration. From this observation, the Cupertino company would have chosen to wait a little longer before deciding to launch a new version of the AirTag. The idea is probably to gauge the popularity of the device over the long term.

If it is still relatively difficult for us to imagine what Apple could well bring as modifications with the AirTag 2, we only have to observe carefully how the sales curves of the first generation of AirTag will behave. over time.

Apple AirTags

  • Ease of use
  • A gigantic location network
  • 1 year battery life and replaceable battery

AirTags are the most “Apple” products out there. Expensive compared to the competition, they are also very easy to use and do an outstanding job of helping you find your lost items. Too bad that the purchase of accessories is almost mandatory to really enjoy it.
