More than five long years after its last game of its kind, Expansive Worlds is back for a new video game immersion in one of the oldest hobbies and still practiced today. The studio mainly known for The Hunter, an open-world hunting simulation game, will offer a new and most unusual experience this year: The Angler, a fishing game!
Call of the Wild: The Angler, the art of fishing
If it will not attract the most impatient or the defenders of the environment, Call of the Wild: The Angler already promises to be a real little bomb in the world of simulation. Addable to the wishlist on Steam since Monday, June 20, 2022, it already promises many features that will delight fans of a calm and peaceful moment by the water, a cane in hand.
Inspired by the great wilderness of North America, including its large lakes and sumptuous landscapes, The Angler promises “spectacular fishing spots and breathtaking environments”. However, it is not intended to be limited to the fishing side of the simulation since it is intended to be an open world. The player would thus have the possibility of exploring on foot, by off-road car or even by boat the corners he prefers.
And if the idea of buying a fishing simulation game seems incongruous to many, wait a bit… It will even be playable in multiplayer! Who here can seriously say that they expected a fishing simulation game playable with 12 friends, all in Open World?
Although we don’t know its exact release date, Call of the Wild: The Angler is scheduled for this year 2022, that’s for sure. Additional content would even already be considered, sometimes free, others paying. Finally, if it will only be available on PC (via Steam and the Epic Game Store) in the first place, a console version is already under development and should land during the first half of 2023.
So good… While waiting to find out if this second opus of the genre will revolutionize the genre in which Fishing Planet had until then imposed itself as a master, you can always add it to your wishlist !
