The anime that beat Avatar 2 in Japan will be released in theaters in France!

Released in Japan on December 3, this animated film from a cult series gave Avatar 2 cold sweats at the Japanese box office. Fans get ready, it will land in France very soon thanks to Wild Bunch!

Get ready to become the king of hardwood floors! After having conquered Asia, the animated film The First Slam Dunk will benefit from a French release this summer under the leadership of Wild Bunch.

Fans of the basketball saga will be able to enjoy the feature film from July 26 in French cinemas.

Created by Takehiko Inoue, the Slam Dunk manga is a real phenomenon with more than 170 million copies sold worldwide (31 volumes published). A television series in 101 episodes saw the light of day between 1993 and 1996, arousing exceptional enthusiasm.

The creator himself, Takehiko Inoue, took charge of the production of the feature film The First Slam Dunk. The latter broke records in the Land of the Rising Sun, affording the luxury of outclassing Avatar 2! This is the first adaptation of the cult work to the cinema.

The film held the top spot at the Japanese box office for 8 consecutive weeks, making Japan the only country where The Way of the Water never topped the weekly box office chart.

In addition to that, the feature film also knocked Suzume off the top of the charts when it was released on December 3. Makoto Shinkai’s new event film (Your Name) had been firmly established on the throne of the Japanese box office for several weeks.

This commercial success was confirmed in other Asian countries where the anime was released, such as South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia or the Philippines. In all, The First Slam Dunk has already collected $115 million in revenue.

As a sophomore in high school, Ryota is on the Shohoku High School basketball team, alongside Sakuragi, Rukawa, Akagi, and Mitsui, and competes in the national inter-high school championship.

Now, they are about to take on the defending champions, players from Sannoh Kogyo High School. What will be the outcome of this summit meeting? Answer on July 26, 2023 in French cinemas.
