Five years after its announcement, Hollow Knight Silksong is gradually weaving the threads leading to the long-awaited confirmation of its release date. New data in this sense has recently been discovered.
The highly anticipated sequel to the masterpiece that is Hollow Knight has indeed been talked about again via a classification body. This time it’s Australia, country of origin of the independent studio Team Cherry. Since most countries have classified Silksong, the announcement of its release date should not be long in coming.
Update from 04/16 at 3:40 p.m.: Just after reporting the discovery relating to this article, Nintendo surprisingly announced a new Indie World scheduled for tomorrow, April 17, at 4 p.m. here. Given recent developments and considering that Hollow Knight Silksong has already made a name for itself via another similar Nintendo event, the long-awaited announcement in question could well be imminent. The return of the Queen of Hollow Knight finally coming very soon
In 2017, Team Cherry had with its first and game and without much pressure created one of the best metroidvania of all time. Hollow Knight owes its magnificent success to devilishly mastered gameplay and a sublime artistic direction composed of superb drawings done almost in an artisanal manner. During the adventure, we come across the young Hornet, who has enjoyed some popularity with players. They did not hide their enthusiasm knowing that Silksong was going to make him the main character following an announcement to this effect in 2019.
Five years have passed, and this highly anticipated sequel to Hollow Knight has remained terribly quiet after an initial release announcement scheduled for early 2023. Every Nintendo Direct or other similar event since, fans have been calling for it not to be rewarded only by silence. Recently, it is through various stores such as the Microsoft Store, Steam or even via classification organizations that the game has given its news. The most recent, dated April 2, is from Australia, Team Cherry’s country of origin. In its native land, Silksong received the PG category for “Mild Violence”. Given that this is one of the last countries missing to classify the game, all that remains is for the independent studio to finally announce the release date.
Team Cherry should soon come out of its long silence
The main party concerned remains for the moment in obstinate silence and has not yet officially confirmed anything. However, it should be remembered that the classification of a game is one of the final steps before announcing its release. As things currently stand, that of Hollow Knight Silksong should therefore take place if all goes well in the coming weeks.
With Summer Game Fest less than two months away, Team Cherry would in any case have the perfect platform to announce with great fanfare the release of this extremely anticipated sequel. The Xbox Showcase scheduled for June 9 would, for example, be a very potential candidate for the exercise. Given the enormous ambitions of the independent studio with regard to Hollow Knight Silksong, fans however seem ready to wait as long as necessary to reconnect in the best possible way with one of the biggest metroidvanias of recent years .
