Quality HDR at this price: that’s why we love it

HDR, or High Dynamic Range, is a technology that increases the dynamic range of an image, that is to say the difference between the darkest and brightest areas. Result: more realistic and immersive images.

This is often a technology that is found on models much more expensive than AOC’s Q27G3XMN. In our test, we found that the Q27G3XMN offers excellent HDR rendering. The blacks are deep and the bright areas are very well defined. FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) backlighting helps reduce blooming, i.e. the light halos that can appear around shiny objects.

Apart from HDR, the Q27G3XMN offers good image quality, with high maximum brightness and a wide color spectrum.

What is the AOC model worth compared to the competition in a similar price range?

Image qualityDesign and ergonomicsPerformanceVersatility
AOC Q27G3XMN9987
Huawei MateView GT8879
Gigabyte M34WQ7798
Asus TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A8889

The prices of these different models are within a pocket square, between approximately 500 and 600 euros, with the exception of the Asus monitor which goes up to 650 euros.

As you can see, the AOC Q27G3XMN stands out as the best in the “image quality” category. This is particularly due to the HDR rendering, which is very convincing with the AOC model. In comparison, this technology is much less notable for competitor models.

In terms of ergonomics, the AOC monitor also marks the distance, thanks to its numerous adjustments. For example, the stand is removable, whereas this is not the case with other PC monitors. The tilt range is also important: from 3.5° to +21.5°, where it is 5 to 20° for the Gigabyte device.

AOC, a recognized brand on the screen market

The first AOC monitors aimed at gamers were released in the early 2000s. These monitors came with gaming-specific features, such as high refresh rates and fast response times.

Over the years, AOC has continued to develop its gaming monitors. The brand was notably one of the first to offer monitors with refresh rates of 144 Hz and 240 Hz, and models with VESA DisplayHDR certification.

Today, AOC has diversified its offering and divided it into three ranges: AGON, AGON PRO and GAMING. Among the manufacturer’s most popular models, we find the C32V1Q (large full HD screen), the CU32V3 (curved and 4K) or the C27G2Z (fast, with a refresh rate of 240 Hz and response time of only 0. 5ms).
