While the release of the Apple Visio Pro mixed reality headset is imminent, at least in the United States, some journalists have already been able to carry out a handling. On paper, the device is tempting. Two 4K screens displaying an extremely detailed image, two chips capable of processing information in a flash for total immersion… Assuming that you have the means to obtain a copy despite its price of $3499, the Apple Visio Pro is full of arguments. But all this is for nothing if the helmet is not comfortable.
It seems stupid, except if you count wear this type of gear for hours, if only to watch a film, it is in his best interest to be forgotten. Apple seems to have emphasized this point. The firm even trained its salespeople to adjust and place the helmet in the best possible way on the customer’s head. What is it in the end? If we are to believe the first returns, it is not there yet. Of two published handlings, both report a discomfort up to headache.

Victoria Song, journalist at The Verge, says: “At the end of my demo, I started to feel the weight of the headset pulling me back to the real world. I frowned, concentrating so hard that I felt the beginnings of a slight headache. This tension dissipated as soon as I took the headphones off […]”. Same story for Cherlynn Low of Engadget. “After 15 minutes of the experience, I started to feel weighed down by the device, and five minutes later I was in pain.”

She nevertheless specifies that after moving to double headband, which distributes the weight better with two straps, one of which passes over the top of the head, wearing the Apple Vision Pro became more comfortable. Certainly, this kind of feeling is ultimately quite personal. It will depend on the shape of your head, your hair, and more generally your tolerance. It is still a shame to note that at this price, the mixed reality headset does not seem to provide what is perhaps the most fundamental point for such a device.
