In its current form, theApple Vision Pro is not usable on a daily basis and it could require four successive generations before reaching its ” ideal form “. This is what is rumored within Apple’s Vision Products Group, the branch of the company dedicated to headset development.

The optimal version of the Vision Pro is not the one launched last week… but the one that Apple would deliver for the fourth generation of the product. This would be the feeling shared by several people attached to the Vision Products Group division, the same one which is responsible for the development of the device.

The current Apple Vision Pro, just a first draft?

According to information from Mark Gurman, journalist for Bloomberg often well informed, the dominant impression within this group would be that there remains a long, very long way to go for the Vision Pro to reach its ” ideal form »… one that would allow daily and intensive use.

In its current form, the device effectively misses this objective. Many testers report that the headset is still too heavy to remain comfortable for several hours in a row. Like many competing models, the Apple Vision Pro is therefore currently intended for occasional use, over relatively short periods. Apple, however, wanted to avoid that.

Other criticisms are also made against this first version of the helmet. Among them, its low autonomy, the still limited number of applications available, or even the presence of bugs in visionOS. So many problems that Apple engineers will probably have succeeded in completely correcting within four generations.

The Apple Vision Pro, possible replacement for the iPad

Note that the group’s objective would also be to make the Vision Pro the replacement for the iPad. According to Mark Gurman, Apple has not succeeded in making its tablets the productivity leaders that they could have been compared to Macs. Instead, the iPad would have “ lost its initial objective » and would be “ become a confusing part of Apple’s product portfolio », According to the journalist.

And if the Vision Pro is currently “ a prototype » according to Mark Gurman, the device would indeed be in the running to take over from Apple’s tablets, despite the numerous necessary developments.

It will take a few hardware upgrades, a slew of software updates, and much better support from app developers (…) to make the headset the iPad replacement it is capable of being », Explains the person concerned.
