The Asian Olympic tournament, which planned to give 8 medals in esports, announced the postponement of its 2022 edition which was to be held not far from Shanghai, a city confined due to Covid-19.

The cases of Covid-19 have increased in China and the country is in the process of confining itself harshly, such as in Shanghai where everyone has been under house arrest since March. The authorities have announced the postponement of the Asian Games 2022 which were to take place from September 10 to 25 in Hangzhou, west of Shanghai. Officials have not yet given a new date for these Asian Olympic Games, but the competition could be heading for a significant postponement as for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics which took place only in the summer of 2021.

The 19th edition of the Asian Games was to allow esports to obtain a new great opportunity to show itself to the whole world. This year the stage had get the official discipline status, with competitions on League of Legends, Dota 2, FIFA Online, Hearthstone, PUBG Mobile, Arena of Valor, Dream of the Three Kingdoms 2 and Street Fighter.

As a reminder, the Korean esports association, the KeSPA had some problems with the appointment of kk0ma at the head of the LoL team of South Korea. The former SK T1 coach revealed his selection for the League of Legends team but almost quit because of a tight schedule and a process he didn’t like. South Korea will send delegations to the LoL, FIFA Online, Hearthstone, PUBG Mobile and Street Fighter V stages.
