The Avatar series renewed on Netflix: what we know about season 2 and season 3

It’s confirmed : Avatar: The Last Airbender will return for a season 2, then a season 3 on Netflix. Here’s what we already know about the next adventures of Aang, Katara and Sokka.

Yip Yip! Earth, Fire, Air and Water will make their comeback on Netflix in seasons 2 and 3, while the first 8 episodes ofAvatar: The Last Airbender are still a hit on the streaming platform. The adaptation of the anime of the same name, which rocked the childhood of thousands of fans in the early 2000s, was able to conquer the hearts of spectators, however reluctant, and even ours in the process.

Series Avatar: The Last Airbender returns for season 2… and 3!

It is therefore no surprise that the good news has finally fallen on the twitter account of the platform: Netflix has renewed Avatar: The Last Airbender for a season 2, and even a season 3.

We can see, in the image shared by Netflix, that season 2 bears the symbol of Earth And season 3 that of Fire. This is obviously not a coincidence: the original cartoon was already divided into 3 seasons, three “Books” and therefore three arcs, each devoted to these elements precisely.

We can therefore easily bet on the fact that Netflix will follow the same plot, especially since the series has already stood out for its narrative fidelity to the work created in 2005 by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.

When is season 2 coming out?Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix?

For the moment, no release date has been revealed. However, we already know that the creator of this live-action adaptation, Albert Kim, had to move narrative elements from the original anime, to be able to maintain consistency with the fact that the cast will grow, between now and the filming of the seasons. following.

This element, revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, therefore suggests that seasons 2 and 3 have not yet been filmed and produced. However, it cannot be ruled out that the next two bursts of episodes will be filmed in a row, since the renewal has already been announced. We should expect about a year and a half of production until we can see season 2.

We also know that the budget of the series is colossal: 15 million dollars were spent on each episode of season 1. This is as much as season 8 of Game Of Thrones and even more than that granted to The Last of Us. Let’s hope that Netflix continues to give such a substantial budget to Avatar: The Last Airbenderso that the visual quality remains there.

What characters will arrive in seasons 2 and 3 ofAvatar: The Last Airbender ?

TOPH! Forgive our enthusiasm, but the arrival of this character crucial to the development of Aang, Katara and Sokka will finally make its entrance in the rest of the series. It is about a young blind woman capable of mastering the element of Earth, whose ironic punchlines have established her as a cult heroine.

She is also one of the most popular protagonists ofAvatar, thanks to his outspokenness and his impressive powers. And in a serial landscape where disabled characters are often absent or written in an ableist way, it constitutes an absolutely brilliant and important example of representation. His appearance in this live-action adaptation is therefore highly anticipated, and will be particularly scrutinized by those concerned.

We don’t yet have any certainty that Toph will appear in the sequel to the Netflix series, but considering the popularity of the character, it would be extremely surprising if the creators decided to oust her narrative arc (and this will certainly create a scandal among fans if that is the case).

Toph is therefore the most significant character to come in seasons 2 and 3, the series having already chosen to introduce essentials like Azula, Zuko’s sister, who should only have emerged during Book 2, as well as as Fire Lord Ozai, their father, who will have a crucial role for the end of the series. We might as well tell you that we can’t wait to find out who will have the honor of playing Toph, so dear to our hearts.
