The dome show "The Bachelor" starts on January 20th on RTL. Now the broadcaster has announced why five candidates are missing at the beginning.

The shooting of the RTL dating show "The Bachelor" (also via TVNow) was not spared from the corona pandemic. As reported by "RTL.de", this year's bachelor Niko Griesert (30) will only get to know 17 of the 22 single women on the first evening. Five candidates had to go into quarantine.

A member of the production crew had tested positive for Covid-19. The participants Kim-Denise Lang, Denise Hersing, Linda-Caroline Nobat, Jacqueline Bikmaz and Debora Goulart had contact with this person and went into self-isolation. "In order to ensure the safety of everyone involved, the participants only took part in 'Der Bachelor' after further tests and the approval of the responsible health authorities," says the station's website. In addition, none of the candidates were infected with the corona virus during production.

Special premiere in season eleven

Due to the corona pandemic, Niko Griesert will get to know single women in Germany for the first time in the history of the dating show. The eleventh season of "The Bachelor" should actually start on January 13th on RTL. But on that Wednesday, the DFB Cup game between Holstein Kiel and FC Bayern Munich will also take place. RTL therefore moved the season premiere to Wednesday, January 20.
