The Batman 2, it’s not for now! You will have to be patient before seeing the rest of the adventures of the Batman.
Released in theaters on March 2, 2022, The Batman was a hit, despite being nearly 3 hours long. The film starring Robert Pattinson earned $770 million worldwide for a budget of $200 million. In France, the feature film attracted 3 million viewers.
In April 2022, barely a month after its release, a 2nd part is officially launched. However, according to ScreenRant, we should not expect to see The Batman 2 before 2025. Indeed, Matt Reeves has not yet finished the script and Warner Bros. has not imposed a release date on it.
Confident, the studio gives him carte blanche to refine his script before going further in production. Thus, filming should not begin before next year, or even 2024. Now in the hands of James Gunn and Peter Safran, DC Studios is planning a new era for the superheroes of the franchise.
However, still according to ScreenRant, the two men should not be in charge of The Batman universe, which will operate independently of the rest of the DC franchises like Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman or Black Adam. Production of the Dark Knight saga made in Matt Reeves will be overseen by Warner co-presidents Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy.
The director will therefore take his time, as he did on the Planet of the Apes saga. Indeed, 3 years separate the two parts directed by Reeves: The Confrontation in 2014 and Supremacy in 2017. It will surely be the same thing between The Batman 1 (2022) and the second episode (2025).
In the meantime, Black Adam is showing at the cinema. As for Shazam 2, it arrives on March 29, 2023. It will be followed by The Flash on June 21. Also note that a series with Colin Farrell’s Penguin is on the way.
