The Batman: Filming has started for Robert Pattinson

Things are getting serious for Robert Pattinson (33, "The Lighthouse"): Filming for "The Batman" began in London on Monday. With a photo on Twitter Director Matt Reeves (53, "Planet of the Apes") announced the official start of filming of the superhero flick. Pattinson takes on the leading role of Bruce Wayne alias Batman and thus takes on the bat legacy of actors such as Ben Affleck (47), Christian Bale (45) and Michael Keaton (68).

The photo published by Reeves shows a clapperboard labeled "The Batman". For this purpose, the filmmaker set the hashtag "#DayOne" (German: "Day One") and linked cameraman Greig Fraser (44, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story"). His current projects include "The Batman", the "Dune" remake and the "Star Wars" Disney series "The Mandalorian". "You guys have no idea what a fantastic film you are going to get," Fraser replied to director Reeves' tweet.

Acting cast is impressive

"Twilight" star Pattinson prevailed in the cast decision against his colleague Nicholas Hoult (30, "Tolkien"). The line-up is also supplemented with Colin Farrell (43) as penguin, Zoƫ Kravitz (31) as Catwoman, Andy Serkis (55) as Butler Alfred, Paul Dano (35) as Riddler, Jeffrey Wright (54) as Jim Gordon, John Turturro (62) as Carmine Falcone and Peter Sarsgaard (48) as a previously unknown character. "The Batman" will be released in summer 2021.
