Check out comedian Barry Keoghan’s audition video for “The Batman,” who originally wanted to play The Riddler and ended up with an even more iconic role.
You had to choose well! Before being selected for a completely different role in The Batman, comedian Barry Keoghan initially wanted to play the Riddler! The comedian uploaded a video to let it be known that he was interested in the idea of playing the one who is also called the Sphinx. At that time, he was unaware that the character was to be in the film.
That was good, except that director Matt Reeves had already chosen Jonah Hill for the role (he would later be replaced by Paul Dano) and Keoghan could therefore not join the project. Until that day when he received a phone call quoted in QG :

For four months, no news. Then a call came in from his agent as [Keoghan] had dinner in New York with a friend: ‘The Batman wants you to play the Joker, but you can’t tell anyone about it’.

What do you think of his performance? Did she convince you? In the end, the comedian wasn’t cast as the king of puzzles but eventually found himself a nice consolation prize by appearing as the Joker at the end of the film, as well as in a now available deleted scene.
With its 770 million dollars collected worldwide, including 3 million admissions in France alone, the film will have a sequel, called The Batman 2 for lack of an official title. It will obviously bring back Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, but also Matt Reeves for the script and the production, but the villain(s) are not yet known.
