During his funeral in Marseille, Bernard Tapie’s grandson paid him a very personal and very touching tribute.

A moving speech. This Friday, October 8, many celebrities had gathered in Marseille for a final farewell to Bernard Tapie, who died this Sunday, October 3 of the consequences of his cancer. In La Major Cathedral, many speeches were delivered, including that of his great friend, ex-minister Jean-Louis Borloo, but also that of his grandson, Rodolphe. The latter delivered a very personal and touching speech.

Nathalie Tapie’s son spoke to his “Daddy” as he liked to call the businessman who died at 78. The 34-year-old is the only one of his grandchildren to have made him a great-grandfather. An element that he recalled by assuring him “With this string of cousins, each as beautiful as the next, great grandchildren, you will have some”. As a promise, he announces his intention to visit him in the cemetery with his son. “With Hugo, we will go kiss you every Saturday and tell you about the exploits of our dear club, the one that you propelled onto the roof of Europe, one evening of May 26, 1993 and which remains to this day the only and the only one in France, the Olympique de Marseille “.

“Forever the best”

In his speech, Rodolphe Tapie came back to a funny anecdote with his aunt Sophie Tapie, whom he considers “Like his sister”. “We made the worst filth like brothers and sisters”, he assures. “I had taken her doll, I had cut her hair. I saw his black eyes, I understood that his sentence was going to be irrevocable. Three hours later, we were on your daddy roof terrace. She took the key, locked herself outside, threw it down and yelled ‘daddy, daddy, Rodolphe locked me up’. I had the biggest brawl of my life, that’s called karma. ”

A memory that made the main interested party and the whole assembly smile. He then concluded his speech with a final “Goodbye Daddy”. “You are at home now, here, in Marseille, at my place, at our place.” Before adding: “Forever in my heart Daddy, forever the best and whatever happens, forever the first”.
