fun, news, tips… what else?

To honor the memory of Jean-Pierre Pernaut, who died on March 2, the graffiti artist Made in graffiti created a work in Ponts-et-Marais, in Seine-Maritime.

His death deeply mourned the world of television. Jean-Pierre Pernaut died on Wednesday March 2 at the age of 71, after suffering from a lung cancer, announced last November. Since then, the tributes follow one another, starting with those of his wife, Nathalie Marquay, and his children. The former TF1 13H presenter also marked a whole generation of viewers who assiduously followed his television news. Made in graffiti was one of those. This Norman graffiti artist, Johann Grenier of his real name, wanted to pay tribute to the deceased journalist in his own way, with his art. He has then painted a fresco on which appears the face of Jean-Pierre Pernaut, in black and white, surrounded by an idyllic landscape.

As reported by the site news.frthe artist first sought to draw his work in the village of Bouvaincourt-sur-Bresle, in the Somme, where Jean-Pierre Pernaut’s mother was from. Not having managed to find a suitable wall for its fresco, Made in graffiti then headed for Bridges and Marshes (Seine Maritime). He then obtained permission from the owner of a restaurant burned down in 2018, La Ferme Niçoise, to carry out his fresco. After fourteen hours of work spread over two days, the ruins of the establishment now display the face of the former presenter of the front page, which dominates the ponds of Bouvaincourt-sur-Bresle designed by Johann Grenier.

“Jean-Pierre stays in Picardy”

And the place chosen is quite symbolic, since the restaurant is located between the Seine-Maritime and the Somme. “It’s a stroke of luck but it’s quite a symbol: Jean-Pierre stays in Picardy“, explained the Norman graffiti artist. It must be said that Jean-Pierre Pernaut was particularly fond of this Picardy territory.

The fresco makes it possible to put an image on the facts, to give importance to the event because it will stay, to thank and share what we feelconfided the artist to the Picard mail. Jean-Pierre Pernaut is also a strong Picardy personality, almost a local journalist as he loved the regions and particularly Picardy. At noon, his diary was a ritual.” Johann Grenier even claimed to have “the impression of having always known him“.”Even his voice had something special, he’s a bit of the guy we would have liked to have as a friend“, he slipped to our colleagues. A feeling that he repeated on his Facebook account, on which he posted a photo of the fresco. “Charismatic, loud… And yet so close to people, it’s almost a friend we lost on wednesday.”
