THE NEWS

CRUNCHYROLL

Horimiya: The Missing Pieces

From July 1.

This is an anime that should delight lovers of romance! This new adaptation of HERO’s eponymous manga adds to a first and recent animated version released during the winter of 2021.

Strong in its originality, the love story of Miyamura and Kyôko won the hearts of a large audience for whom its 13 episodes turned out to be far too short. But good news, our two heroes and their comrades are back in a spin-off!

These little episodes fillers are an opportunity to adapt different chapters of the manga that were left behind in the first anime. We therefore advise you to watch Horimiya, before embarking on this little bonus series for even more touching and romantic moments.

The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses

From July 4.

Taken from a manga unpublished in France, The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses follows Kaede Komura, a somewhat shy middle schooler. The boy secretly loves his classmate sitting next to him, Ai Mie.

He constantly seeks her gaze through his glasses that she tends to forget very often! Determined to speak to her more often, Komura seeks to get closer to her by becoming her greatest support.

Undead Murder Prank

From July 5.

Inspired by a light novel, Undead Murder Face takes us to the 19th century, to a world populated by vampires, golems, werewolves and other supernatural creatures. There we follow Aya Rindo, an immortal beauty with a bodiless head.

Accompanied by half-human, half-demon demon slayer Tsugaru Shin’uchi and her loyal servant Shizuku Hasei, she travels across Europe as a paranormal detective, solving supernatural mysteries while searching for her lost body.

Reborn as a Vending Machine

From July 5.

Just for its absolutely comical and wacky pitch, this anime must be worth a look! After being killed in a road accident, a young man wakes up near a lake, transformed into… a vending machine!

Impossible for him to move around alone, no way to have a serious conversation, how will he survive in such a fantastic world?

Liar Liar

From July 8.

This series, which bears the same title as a comedy with Jim Carrey (Liar, liar), invites us to participate in a game of wits, lies and deceit! On Academy Island, students compete in games to earn stars, in order to achieve the prestigious title of Seven Stars that unites the school’s elite.

Last year’s defending champion, Sasara is on course to win again until a new student, Hiroto, enters the picture. To everyone’s surprise, he beats her, but in reality, he cheated! He must now continue to bluff to keep his place.

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead

From July 9.

What are the 100 things you would like to do before you die? This is the question posed by Akira Tendô, a young asocial a little lost who suddenly regains a taste for life when a zombie apocalypse ravages Japan. Exit his dreary daily life, here he is motivated to realize all his dreams before being transformed into the living dead.

As crazy as it is colorful, this adaptation of Asou Haro’s manga will be your dose of good humor and laughter for this summer. A sci-fi comedy sublimated by the graphic touch of the very young studio BUG FILMS, of which this is the first production. Very promising !

The Men’s Pavilion

From June 29.

This original Netflix adaptation immerses you in an alternative Japan of the 18th century, in the heart of an Edo period destroyed by a mysterious deadly epidemic affecting only the male sex.

Subject to the power of women, more than eight hundred men now live in the service of Shogun. But one of them intends to overthrow the hierarchy of the pavilion…

Political alliances, betrayals, secrets and twists: this anime has all the cards in hand to conquer many spectators! Add to that effective animation from pioneering DEEN studios (Ranma 1/2, Vampire Knight…) and The Men’s Pavilion promises to be a success.

My Happy Marriage

From July 5.

A young girl from a high-ranking family, an evil half-sister, and a rich heir with a soft heart… My Happy Marriage ticks all the boxes of a good fairy tale. But it could turn out to be more surprising than it seems.

This historical drama with undeniable graphic beauty is undoubtedly THE nugget awaited by lovers of Japanese animation for this summer. Hoping already for a quick renewal because the original light novel is still being published in Japan.
