The best Chromecast is currently under $50

[Deal du jour] Chromecast with Google TV 4K version is not often on promotion. As Google releases a new Chromecast entry level, it is sometimes difficult to know which one best suits our needs. With this promotion, the Chromecast 4K becomes very affordable.

What is this Google Chromecast promotion?

Usually found around €60, the Google Chromecast with Google TV 4K version is €49.98 on Amazon.

What is Google Chromecast?

Google’s Chromecast is simply a TV box that runs on Android TV. The Google TV interface offers a simple presentation of your content based on your viewing habits. The application is personalized as you use it to recommend programs that you might like. The presentation of the contents is clear and well done, as is the installation, which does not require any special skills. Just plug the Chromecast into a power outlet as well as your TV’s HDMI port.

The Play Store serves as a catalog for your applications and you can find the usual SVOD services there such as Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ or even Apple TV+. 4K, HDR and Dolby Vision are present as well as Dolby Atmos for audio. Chromecast is part of the Google Home ecosystem. So you can control other connected devices via Google Assistant. Finally, its small size and discretion make it easily concealable behind your TV.

Is the Google Chromecast a good deal?

If you don’t have a Smart TV or Box TV via your internet provider, then Google’s Chromecast is a great alternative for less than €50. The Full HD version is sold at €39.99. The difference with the 4K model is of course in the definition. The entry-level Full HD model does not offer 4K but only 1080p HDR. If you don’t have a television or sufficient internet connection to watch 4K content, this model should be right for you. If you’re going to use your Chromecast to store video files, be aware that the 4K model only includes 4GB of storage. While this capacity may be sufficient for the use you will make of it, however, you may be looking for larger storage.

Nvidia, for example, offers 16GB of storage in its capable Shield TV Pro, which is double that. Powered by a Tegra X1+ chip and 3 GB of RAM, it is also extremely powerful, but much more expensive than Google’s Chromecast. Among the alternatives of the same price, the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K is a good competitor. 4K, HDR and Dolby Atmos are supported with a simple and fast interface. The Fire TV OS isn’t as ergonomic as Android TV, but will get the job done.
