5th – Alibi.com 2 3.8/5

Studiocanal

We no longer present the cult comedy by Philippe Lacheau, which made its debut on our big screens in 2017. La Bande à Fifi is back here in a second part, always to be taken at face value.

After closing his agency and promising Flo that he would never lie to her again, Greg’s new life has become too quiet… But when he decides to propose to Flo, he unfortunately has to introduce his own family. Between her crook father and her mother, a former actress in charming films, there is reason to risk her future union. He then decides to reopen his agency with his former accomplices for a final alibi: to find more presentable false parents…

The first part was the film of Philippe Lacheau having met with the most success, with more than 3.6 million spectators. That was without counting on this second chapter, which broke its record with more than 4.2 million entries! In Alibi.com 2, we find what made the first popular: a frantic pace and a succession of gags at will. But for this new adventure, Gérard Jugnot, Didier Bourdon, Nathalie Baye and Arielle Dombasle are joining the successful gang: that promises.

4th – Little victories 3.8/5

Zinc Film

Winner of two awards at the Alpe d’Huez festival last January (public prize and special jury prize), Les Petites victories follows the adventures of Alice (Julia Piaton), mayor of a small village and also a teacher. . The one who fights to keep her community alive will see her life change with the arrival, on the school benches, of Émile (Michel Blanc), an illiterate sixty-year-old with an explosive character. Especially when she will have to try to save her village and her school at the same time…

In Small victories, Michel Blanc And Julia Piaton respond with humor, charm and sensitivity and form an endearing duo not to be missed. A tender and moving dramatic comedy, optimistic and committed, with careful dialogue, Mélanie Auffret’s film is a favorite that touches you with its sincerity.

3rd – My crime 3.8/5

Gaumont Distribution

Twenty years after 8 Women, the biggest success of his rich filmography, François Ozon returns to investigative comedy.

In My Crime, we return to the 1930s in Paris. Madeleine Verdier, a young and pretty penniless and talentless actress, is accused of the murder of a famous producer. Helped by her best friend Pauline, a young unemployed lawyer, she is acquitted for self-defense. Then begins a new life, full of glory and success, until the truth comes to light…

On the program, a whirlwind investigation, with its false leads and twists and turns, an intrigue putting female friendship and sorority at the forefront and other themes that resonate with our society. Add a real comic tone to it and that’s it. In line with 8 women, My crime is a delicious zany comedy carried by a sublime cast composed, among others, of the revelations Nadia Tereszkiewicz (freshly Caesarized) and Rebecca Marder but also of the pillars of French cinema Isabelle Huppert, Fabrice Luchini, Dany Boon and André Dussollier.

2nd – Simple like Sylvain 3.9/5

Fred Gervais

This dramatic comedy, which is unlike any other, begins as a classic romance and then completely reinvents the genre with intelligence and modernity.

Sophia (Magalie Lépine Blondeau) is a philosophy professor in Montreal. Brilliant and cultured, she has led a quiet life with Xavier (Francis-William Rhéaume) for 10 years. But everything changes when she meets Sylvain (Pierre-Yves Cardinal), a model of virility and a carpenter who comes to renovate their country house. It’s love at first sight: opposites attract, but can it last, especially when Sophia’s two worlds end up meeting?

Simple as Sylvain, this is the third film by Quebecer Monia Chokri and a gem that sends stereotypes flying and deconstructs images of men, women and couples in the process. The director has created a great film about the midlife crisis: a funny, crazy and bitter “rom-com”, at once moral, deep and melancholy. Not to miss.

1st – Yannick 3.9/5

PRODUCTION WORKSHOP/CHI-FOU-MI PRODUCTIONS/QUENTIN DUPIEUX 2023

It was shot in the space of six days and arrived in cinemas by surprise, announced only a month before its release in theaters: here is Yannick, the surprise of the year!

In the middle of a performance of the play “Le Cocu”, a very bad boulevard, Yannick gets up and interrupts the show to take over the evening… Here, the director, Quentin Dupieux, stages his worst nightmare: boring the audience.

Result: it only lasts 1h07 but it is effective, funny, disturbing and touching at the same time. Carried by insane actors – Raphaël Quenard, Pio Marmaï and Blanche Gardin – the feature film is above all a black comedy which establishes a progressive unease until it becomes disturbing but also overwhelming. Yannick, the film and the character, will stay with you for a long time… A real cinema proposition according to the spectators.
