The best film of all time: according to German spectators, it’s him!

The best film according to French spectators is Forrest Gump, but with an average of 4,722 stars out of 5, do you know which is the Germans’ favorite?

Some time ago, we revealed to you which was the highest rated film of all time according to AlloCiné spectators. With an impressive average of 4,596 stars out of 5, many of you now know that it is Forrest Gump, directed by Robert Zemeckis in 1994, and holder of the title for many years.

But is this also true in other countries? Exceptionally leaving the borders of France, we went for a little tour with our German colleagues, on the site Filmstartsin order to find out which feature films were the favorites of audiences across the Rhine.

The Godfather number 1!

In Germany, with a remarkable average rating of 4.722 out of 5, it is The Godfather who comes out on top (and not Forrest Gump, who here has to settle for 14th place).

Made in 1972, notably supported by Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, Francis Ford Coppola’s feature film, which many consider to be the best gangster film ever made, often returns among the first places of many lists (even if it does not arrive than in fifth position with us).

Furthermore, apart from this true classic in the history of cinema retracing the rise of young Michael Corleone within the mafia, the Top 5 of all time of our German friends does not bring together the same films as that of French spectators.

A different Top 5 between France and Germany

Just behind The Godfather, on Filmstarts, we find The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring by Peter Jackson (respectively rated 4,716 and 4,712 stars out of 5), The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan (4,703 out of 5) and Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino (4,694 out of 5).

Also very well rated here, these films actually arrive a little lower in the French rankings.
