Whether out of boredom, the desire for a change or the discovery of the first gray hair – sooner or later almost everyone turns to color. The hair dye market is huge, but not all products are worth the money. Stiftung Warentest took a close look at nine permanent hair colors that you can dye yourself.
Four products from different brands were particularly convincing in the test. The mediums colored evenly, covered and came closest to the promised tone. The following hair dyes shared first place with a grade of 2.0:
- Nutrisse Permanent Care Hair Color Cream (to Amazon)
- Triple care cream color from L’Oréal Paris (to Amazon)
- Intensive Cream Coloration Permanent by Poly Palette (to Amazon)
- Schwarzkopf Intensive Color Cream (on Amazon)
But not all tested products are convincing. Five of the nine hair dyes were only rated as satisfactory. The Réell”e Intensive Colorcreme from dm colors the hair much more intensively than stated on the package, Syoss strains the hair and Isana Professional from Rossmann is particularly weak on gray hair.
You can save yourself the trip to an expensive hairdresser with the permanent hair colors for coloring yourself, but you should definitely find out more about the product before you buy it in order to avoid disappointment about the colour, quality and opacity.
