This Thursday, June 23, M6 kicked off the Best pastry chef, the professionals. Virgilia, candidate for this edition, confided in the very special bond she has with Cyril Lignac.
Cyril Lignac is on all fronts. As he launched his cake academysince this Thursday, June 23, the chef is back in The best pastry chef, the professionals. M6 has indeed kicked off the fifth edition of its competition – which for the occasion has moved. And this is not the only novelty that the faithful of the program could note. There has indeed been a change in the jury. Exit Jean-Francois Piège. If Cyril Lignac and – to a lesser extent – Pierre Hermé are still in the game, they are now accompanied by Christelle Brua. A participation that is the pride of the host of the show, Marie Portolano, who highlighted it. “To accompany you, to judge you, to push you to go even further, we have obviously called on the excellence of French pastry“, began Marie Portolano in front of the seven pairs of pastry chefs who compete.
If she “no longer present” Cyril Lignac, the presenter, on the other hand, focused more on the newcomer. “And this year, a new sidekick: she is the first woman to be crowned Best Restaurant Pastry Chef in the World, and today she is, the pastry chef of the Elysée. I ask you to welcome Cyril Lignac and his new accomplice, Christelle Brua!“, enthused the one who is expecting her second child, while the candidates were amazed. Although they are used to meeting and collaborating with prestigious chefs, the professionals are nonetheless moved and impressed when a great name of the pastry makes its entrance under the tent of the Best pastry chef.
Why Virgilia was “very very moved” by Cyril Lignac
However, it is not the presence of Christelle Brua that has marked Virgilia the most. It is rather by discovering Cyril Lignac under the tent that his smile has widened. I have to say that without the famous chef knowing, he had a very important role with Virgilia and his passion for this field. “It was thanks to Cyril Lignac that I started making pastry, with his books“, explained the one who is in pairs with Julien. And to outbid: “So when I see him in the tent, I’m very, very moved and it touches me particularly.“History does not say, however, if the young pastry chef had the courage to speak to the person concerned. There is no doubt, however, that she took advantage of her career in the competition to glean wise advice from the man who made him want to do this job.
