The best plants for those who regularly kill plants

“Oops, dead.” Who knows that? I remember acquiring a cute little bonsai tree many years ago. I named it Boba, the bonsai tree. We were inseparable, every day Boba just stood sweet and small in my room and enjoyed life.

But it was a short life and the end a horrible one. The little note attached to Boba’s pot said, “Water moderately.” To this day I don’t know what it’s supposed to be about, and even an internet search didn’t bring me any clarity. But one thing was pretty sure: I obviously didn’t water Boba “moderately”. The earth, and ultimately Boba, began to mold over time. It was a tragedy and at some point I had to say goodbye to him. Since then, I have only admired bonsai trees from a safe distance.

Plants require more than love and kind words

Unfortunately it is like this: You need a little feeling if you want to take care of a houseplant. And also idea. Where should it be, how much light is okay, how much lethal? Can she take a breath of wind? Does she suck my oxygen away at night? Is it toxic to children or pets? However, the most important question for us, who have not been blessed with green thumbs and have yet cruelly murdered every flower, is: Is it difficult, if not impossible, to kill this plant?

In an interview with the online magazine “Woman’s Health”, gardening expert Lindsay Pangborn gives another important tip:

“When you choose a plant, you should consider your lifestyle, your habits and your living environment.”

For example, if you are at home irregularly, you should perhaps opt for a plant that can do without water for a long time. Basically, it’s like this: Sometimes plants just die, even though you’ve done everything right. Happens. And try not to worry too much at the beginning, no one has ever been born a plant expert.

“Owning a plant is a learning process and can be a little stressful when it’s new or when you have a lot of commitments in life,” says Pangborn. So: Just try it and who knows, maybe it will become a new hobby for you? With the plants from our gallery, it will at least (most likely) be a gentle start.
