The best scene in cinema is in this movie released 45 years ago, says Hugh Jackman

In 2011, Hugh Jackman spoke to our microphone about the sequence which, in his eyes, represented the best in cinema: a scene taken from the musical “Let the show begin” by Bob Fosse.

As he prepares to play the famous clawed mutant for a ninth time in Deadpool & Wolverine (in theaters on July 21), Australian actor Hugh Jackman has already offered us multiple indelible cinema memories.

During almost three decades of a rich and varied career, he has thrilled us on numerous occasions by sharing the adventures of the X-Men, singing with Les Misérables and The Greatest Showman, or thrilling with the thriller Prisoners and the memorable Prestige. by Christopher Nolan.

Hugh Jackman’s favorite scene

But long before helping to make millions of spectators dream, where did he go to forge his own passion for cinema? What are the films that made his heart beat and made him want to do this job?

While he was at our microphone in 2012 to discuss the release of his latest feature film – the exciting family science fiction film Real Steel – Hugh Jackman agreed to describe to us the scene that he considered his favorite:

20th century Fox

“One of my favorite movies is Let the Show Begin!”he told us, citing the musical comedy produced by Bob Fosse in 1979, and in which a very busy artist is unable to reconcile rehearsals for his next ballet on Broadway, the filming of his new film and his life as a family.

“I love this scene.”

“There’s a great scene in the film, in which the main character is sitting on a sofa, while his girlfriend, or rather his mistress, with his daughter, does a little dance number for him, singing ‘ Everything Old Is New Again.’ They’re doing this dance number in her apartment, and I love that scene.”

Led by the two actresses Ann Reinking and Erzsebet Foldi who perfectly execute a rich and complex choreography, accompanied by the palpable emotion of Roy Scheider, the sequence is indeed impressive and truly delightful.
