The best storage for your data – and goodbye Microsoft, Google and Amazon

If you want to manage all your data from your PC, notebook, tablet and smartphone yourself, you need more than a simple backup solution. A NAS, for example, is a complete solution that integrates all devices and can even serve as a media player. We present the current test winner in more detail:

The Asustor Lockerstor 2 offers great performance and many features. For example – in contrast to many competing products – an HDMI connection is included so that the NAS (Network Data Storage) can be connected directly to a television or monitor. Inside the case is an Intel Celeron J4125, which offers four cores. You have four GB of RAM available, but you can upgrade to up to eight GB if you wish. The ports are also good, because in addition to HDMI, you get two 2.5 Gbit Ethernet ports and three USB 3.2 Gen. 1.

Our verdict at the time of testing

The Asustor Lockerstor 2 particularly impressed in the test with a read and write performance that has rarely been measured up to now, but is still energy-efficient. On the technical side, the NAS is well equipped with a quad-core processor and four GB of RAM and comes with some comfort features. These include the two integrated M.2 SSD slots, interchangeable “MyArchive” hard drives as well as snapshots, cloud services and two LAN interfaces. However, the price from around 430 euros is not a bargain, especially since hard drives are not included in the scope of delivery – and there is also no WLAN function.” Read the full review.
