The “BFM politique” show with Marion Maréchal disrupted by environmental activists

The BFM political show, broadcast on Sunday at midday, was interrupted twice by intruders who appeared in the middle of an interview with Marion Maréchal, causing the evacuation of the set, AFP noted. BFMTV announced to AFP its intention to file a complaint against this intrusion, claimed in a press release by the environmentalist collective Dernier Rénovation.

The intruders were arrested and taken to the 15th arrondissement police station, a police source told AFP. The interview with Marion Maréchal, head of the Reconquête list in the European elections, was disrupted for the first time about five minutes after its start by a man claiming to be from Latter Renovation.

“We have 521 days left”

The man positioned himself next to Marion Maréchal, without his face being shown on the air. According to a photo that AFP obtained, the individual then sat on the presenters’ table, wearing a white t-shirt bearing the inscription, in English, “We have 521 days left” (“He we have 521 days left). The antenna was immediately cut off, and the broadcast resumed a few minutes later… before being interrupted again by a man shouting “we have the power”.

“Simon and Till, citizens involved with Dernier Rénovation, twice interrupted the BFM Politique program presented by Benjamin Duhamel, around 12:07 p.m. and 12:21 p.m. Dressed in a t-shirt with the inscription +521 days left+, they sat on the set as a sign of non-violence and stuck their hands to the furniture,” detailed in a press release the environmentalist collective.

“I won’t give in without resistance!”

“I have decided to interrupt the normal course of things because it is our last chance. Our government is destroying our democracy, threatening my future and taking that of my loved ones hostage. I will not give in without resistance! We wants 12 billion euros for the thermal renovation of buildings!”, declared Simon on the set of BFM Politique, according to this press release. “Certain individuals in the public had chosen to interrupt this broadcast,” lamented, after this forced break, presenter Benjamin Duhamel, indicating that “there is no longer an audience” now.

“We deplore the desire of a certain number of individuals to disrupt the show by infiltrating the public… we have decided to continue the show without an audience for greater peace of mind,” confirmed the management of BFMTV to the AFP. “On the BFMTV set, during the interview with Marion Maréchal, two men who were part of the show’s audience interrupted the personality’s interview by chanting demands linked to the thermal renovation of the building. The personality n “was not targeted and was not injured. These two individuals were arrested,” the police source told AFP.
