The BFMTV competition for young journalists renamed after Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff

“The BFMTV Challenge”, the annual competition for journalism school students, will now be called “the BFMTV Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff challenge”. A tribute to the journalist of the channel, who died at the end of May in Ukraine and a symbol of “the commitment and the desire to inform of an entire profession” according to the group’s press release.

The competition for young BFMTV journalists, “the BFMTV Challenge”, will now be called “the BFMTV Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff Challenge” in tribute to the journalist from the news channel killed at the end of May in Ukraine, the latter announced on Monday. “Giving the name of Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff to this competition symbolizes the commitment and the desire to inform of an entire profession”, indicated in a press release the chain and the Altice group, to which it belongs.

Organized each year in April for the past six years, this contest for students of journalism schools allows them to win two fixed-term contracts for one year within the editorial staff of BFMTV in two categories: editor and journalist image reporter (JRI ). In addition, the “rue des Studios” of the Parisian campus of Altice, where the group’s media platforms are located, “will be called ‘rue Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff’ with a commemorative plaque which will be installed during a ceremony with family, loved ones and colleagues,” the statement concluded.

Freelancer at BFMTV, Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff was killed on May 30 by shrapnel during a bombardment. A rally took place on June 10 at the Place de la République in Paris to pay tribute to him.
