The Big Bang Theory: after Young Sheldon, a new series has been ordered!

As “Young Sheldon” prepares to bow out, the American channel CBS has just announced that a new spin-off from the universe of “The Big Bang Theory” will see the light of day. It will center on Sheldon Cooper’s brother.

And three! The universe of The Big Bang Theory is about to expand once again. After Young Sheldon, a spin-off centered on Sheldon Cooper’s childhood, CBS has just given the green light for a new spin-off series with Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, which should arrive on American screens next year.

The sequel to Young Sheldon

Created by Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland, the minds behind The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, the sitcom will follow the daily lives of Georgie Cooper Jr, Sheldon’s brother, and Mandy McAllister, now young parents, then that they must juggle the challenges of adulthood, raising their child and marital problems.

A new spin-off which will therefore take the place of Young Sheldon, which is bowing out in the coming weeks at the end of its season 7.

It has been a privilege to spend the last seven years with Sheldon and the Cooper family. This wonderful journey will now be able to continue with Georgie and Mandy”, CBS Entertainment Presenter Amy Reisenbach said in a statement.

Chuck and both Steves did a masterful job developing these characters and entertaining generations of fans with the realistic, heartwarming stories that Montana and Emily brought to life. We look forward to the next chapter of this beloved universe.”

Georgie’s story

Thanks to The Big Bang Theory, we know that Georgie and Mandy are no longer a couple in the future, Sheldon’s brother having had two ex-wives. This therefore means that between her engagement in season 6 of Young Sheldon and the events recounted in The Big Bang Theory, a lot has happened in Georgie’s love life.

It remains to be seen whether this new spin-off will follow the chronology of the parent series. Steve Holland had indeed declared to TVLine : “It’s not because [quelque chose s’est passé dans Big Bang] that it is a story that [notre narrateur] must tell.”

The finale of Young Sheldon will be broadcast on May 16 on CBS. The first 5 seasons are available on Netflix.
