TV stations ring in the new year with numerous shows and programs. These are the TV tips for New Year’s Eve 2022.

If you spend New Year’s Eve comfortably at home, TV programs can provide variety and create the right mood for the turn of the year. These are the highlights from the New Year’s Eve program 2022.

“Dinner for One”, 6:40 p.m., The First

“Dinner for One” was first broadcast on New Year’s Eve in 1972, and since then the sketch has been part of the New Year’s celebrations for many like lead pouring, champagne and fireworks. The old black and white classic, also known as “The 90th Birthday”, is an NDR production from 1961. In the approximately 18-minute sketch by the English comedian Freddie Frinton (1909-1968) with his partner May Warden (1891-1978) and the presenting compere Heinz Piper (1908-1972), Miss Sophie invited her four closest friends to a birthday dinner.

However, these are deceased, which is why Butler James has to take over their roles. In addition to the first (6:40 p.m.), other stations are also including the classic again this year. NDR shows the program at 3:30 p.m., 7:40 p.m. and 11:35 p.m. WDR broadcasts it at 5:35 p.m., BR at 7:40 p.m.

“The Big New Year’s Eve Show”, 8:15 p.m., The First

During prime time, the first invites you to “The Big New Year’s Eve Show” to welcome the new year with party hits, pop songs, hits evergreens or rock classics. For the first time, Francine Jordi (45) and Hans Sigl (53) lead through the Eurovision show, where they will welcome numerous celebrities.

Stars such as Chris de Burgh (74), Marianne Rosenberg (67), Nathan Evans (28), the Spider Murphy Gang or Beatrice Egli (34) will be seen on stage. From 12:20 a.m., the subsequent “New Year’s Eve Show Party” will continue for around “100 minutes with non-stop hits from the New Year’s Eve Show 2021,” says the announcement.

“Welcome 2023”, 8:15 p.m., ZDF

ZDF is also showing a New Year’s Eve show: In “Welcome 2023” Andrea Kiewel (57) and Johannes B. Kerner (58) will broadcast live from the Brandenburg Gate and will present the show for the first time from the east side of the gate, Pariser Platz.

The moderation duo will be supported by singer Sasha (50). The musical guests include the Scorpions, DJ BoBo (54), Malik Harris (25), Jupiter Jones, Aura Dione (37) and Calum Scott (34). The celebrations continue on ZDF afterwards: “The ZDF Midnight Party” (from 12:50 a.m.) is presented by Beatrice Egli and Bülent Ceylan (46). With anecdotes and surprising moments, the duo will show excerpts from ZDF shows with their favorite songs from ABBA, Fanta 4, Roland Kaiser (70), Helene Fischer (38) or AC/DC. They also grab the microphone themselves.

“The Ultimate Chart Show – The Most Successful New Year’s Eve Party Hits”, 8:15 p.m., RTL

Already at noon Oliver Geissen (53) on RTL will give the starting signal for what is possibly the longest “Chart Show” of all time (“The Ultimate Chart Show – The Party Begins – Part 1” from 12:30 p.m. and “The Ultimate Chart Show – Die Party starts – part 2” from 19:05). From 8:15 p.m. he then presents the “most successful New Year’s Eve party hits”. Guests include Scooter frontman HP Baxxter (58), Cascada frontwoman Natalie Horler (41) and actor Martin Klempnow (49). A musical journey through time with mega hits through five decades of New Year’s Eve parties awaits TV viewers.

“100 New Year’s Eve crackers – The Countdown Show 2022”, 8:15 p.m., WDR

The WDR heralds the last evening of 2022 with a countdown show. By the turn of the year, the show is supposed to offer “over 200 minutes of great entertainment from the best that the playlist and the sketch box have to offer”. There are 50 sketches by Loriot, Frankenfeld, Hallervorden and Otto as well as the funniest from “Bananas”, “Sketchup” and “Schmidteinander”. 50 of the most stirring songs from 60 years of pop history are also celebrated.
