Red dresses, red carpet
The biggest fashion trend at the Oscars 2022
glamour? And how! The Oscars are the night for the really big performances and, with a classic among glamor robes, gives us another huge trend in 2022.
We see red! But only in a positive sense. Because while film fans are eagerly awaiting the Oscars to find out who can go home with the coveted award, we also pay attention to the most unusual looks on the red carpet. And there, in 2022, definitely nobody could avoid the color red.
Old classics characterize the red carpet of the Oscars
This year’s fashion motto: Everything will be different. The Academy Awards emerged from their gray Corona veil and shone fashionably with new diversity. Instead of exclusively long robes, two-piece suits and white shirts also took place on the red carpet. Old traditions? Passé! But even if ladies like Zendaya and Kirsten Stewart have provided real wow moments with their classic white blouses, the biggest trend of the evening is another one – namely red!
That’s why red is trending at the Oscars
The romantic and equally powerful color is definitely leading the triumph of Oscar robes 2022. Shades of ruby, rose red and caramelized apples filled the carpet towards the Dolby Theatre. Red, from carpets to hair bows, is a trend that will stay in our minds even after the Academy Awards are over.
Whether the stylists of the Oscar participants wanted to make a plea for the return of dramatic robes after a long Corona sadness with the conspicuous red parade in front of the Dolby Theater or whether the distribution of the bright color was just a coincidence is of course not entirely clear cleared. But it doesn’t matter! Because the tone brings glamor and fire into the wardrobe and is fun even without a major intention.
From scarlet to cherry, these stars wore red to the Oscars
At the awards ceremony itself, no color appeared on screens as often as this one. Three of the five nominees in the category “Best Supporting Actress” at the Oscars 2022 alone chose red.
Ariane DeBose, later also Golden Boy winner, presented a bespoke two-piece Valentino set in scarlet complete with dramatic cape. Colleague Kisten Dunst chose a cherry red vintage Christian Lacroix dress made from a semi-sheer fabric that scooped a cupcake topping over the gown and Aunjanue Ellis, who was nominated for her performance in ‘King Richard’, beamed at viewers in orange-red opposite.
Cut-outs give the trendy color the finishing touch
Another big trend among Oscar robes: cut-outs and red. Jennifer Garner started the trend on the red carpet with her small cut-out in the décolleté. This was followed by Ellis Ross in Carolina Herrera – also with a special neckline – and Amy Forsyth in a Marchesa one-shoulder dress with a high leg slit. We see: with a bright red you don’t have to do much more to make a statement. Loud colors plus an exciting cut – that’s it. And it’s so easy to create trends in one evening!
