About ten years ago, while embarking on a podcast project, I found the perfect microphone to meet my needs: the Blue Yeti. What makes this mic so special that so many podcasters have embraced it for so many years? If you read a list of the “best mics for podcasting”, you will inevitably come across the Blue Yeti. The reason is threefold: amazing sound, unique look and good cost.
For its price, currently at €130 at the time of writing this text, the Blue Yeti is almost a given. And that’s why.
I have a feeling part of the reason for this dramatic price drop is that Logitech (the company that bought Blue out a while back) is getting rid of the Blue brand and will be selling the mics under the Logitech G gaming brand. For the price, you won’t find a better mic for podcasting. And that’s all.

I’ve used the Blue Yeti on Linux and macOS and it still works as expected. It’s plug-and-play that doesn’t require drivers to be installed. I’ve used the mic with Audacity and had no issues with the mic.
The beauty of the Blue Yeti
At first, you might be drawn to the look of the Blue Yeti. It has an old sci-fi look and, I have to admit, it looks cool in my opinion. But actually, the real beauty of the Blue Yeti is the sound. You won’t find a better mic for today’s price. It’s done. And while some prefer a headset-style mic (especially for gaming), if you’re recording a podcast, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a mic that beats the sound the Blue Yeti reproduces.
He is really very good. In fact, whenever someone asks me which mic they should buy for their podcast, the Blue Yeti is always the first recommendation that comes out of my mouth. This was true when it was my only mic and it still is, even though my favorite mic is now the CAD E100 (which however costs considerably more).
Seriously, if you’re ever considering buying a new mic for your podcast, the Blue Yeti is what you need.
