The bodies of three babies were found on Tuesday in the basement of a house in Ville-d’Avray, in the Hauts-de-Seine.

The lifeless bodies of three babies were found in seals by a public official at the scene as part of an estate, reports TF1. According to our colleagues, two infants were “fossilized” and the third would have received conservation treatment. Also called embalming, this post-mortem certificate prevents the natural decomposition of the body by replacing the blood with formalin.

Still according to TF1, the house would have been inhabited by a former obstetrician-gynecologist died in 2015. A investigation was opened by the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office for “investigation of causes of death”. Investigators from the Hauts-de-Seine judicial police will have to determine the age of the babies, the date and the causes of their death, in order to know in particular how long they had been in the basement of this house. According to Parisianthe infants would have died “by asphyxiation” following a “pressure”, which favors the thesis of a criminal act. The mother reportedly explained that she made a denial of pregnancy following an adventure. Her husband would have assured that he was not aware. Investigations are still ongoing.
