The Book by Boba Fett: The Mandalorian Paz Vizsla and Boromir from The Lord of the Rings – Brothers in Spirit

THE BOOK BY BOBA FETT

Mandalorian Paz Vizsla wants Din Djarin’s Darksaber in The Book of Boba Fett. This brings back memories of Boromir from “The Lord of the Rings”.

  • In The Book of Boba Fett, Paz Vizsla challenged Mando to a fight.
  • The Mandalorian with the blue armor felt he was entitled to the legendary weapon.
  • This behavior is reminiscent of Boromir (Sean Bean) from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

“The Book of Boba Fett” follows Din Djarin in Episode 5 as he searches for the last remaining members of his Mandalorian clan. The Armorer and Paz Vizsla are both among the children of the Watch who strictly follow the way of the Mandalor.

Although the Mandalorian Paz Vizsla has supported Mando in the past, his demeanor changes significantly when he sees Mando wielding the Darksaber. Although he received the sword in battle and thus in the correct way, Paz Viszla believes that the Darksaber is his due.

Paz Viszla is reminiscent of Boromir from “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring”. He too was an ally of Frodo, who, however, could not resist the power of the One Ring and wanted the ring for himself, causing the companions to distrust him.

While the Darksaber has no particular power, Paz Viszla knows the history of the sword and also knows that Tarre Vizsla, his ancestor and the first Mandalorian Jedi, created the Darksaber.

While he does not have an automatic right to the Darksaber, Paz Viszla was allowed to challenge Mando to battle and could have become the Darksaber’s rightful wielder. Mando may still have the Darksaber after winning the fight, but the Master-at-Arms stripped him of his Mandalorian title, but Paz Viszla may believe even more that Din Djarin doesn’t deserve to wield the weapon.

Boromir ultimately died a hero and it’s not out of the question that Paz Viszla awaits a similar ending. If The Mandalorian Season 3 is about saving Mandalore, which is currently believed to be the case, Mando, Bo-Katan the Armorer and Paz Viszla will likely have to fight side by side, although their views are very different.

Then it will also become clear who will ultimately be able to wield the Darksaber and whether the legendary weapon is really as closely linked to the fate of Mandalore as some Mandalorians believe. In “The Book of Boba Fett” we will probably not see Paz Viszla and the gunsmith again.
