Fans of “The Mandalorian” are eagerly awaiting the spin-off “The Book of Boba Fett”. Now Disney + has announced the start date of the series. The “Star Wars” adventure can be seen exclusively on the streaming service from December 29th. Disney + has also published a first picture.

The new series from Lucasfilm was surprisingly announced in the credits of the second season of “The Mandalorian”. The well-known “The Mandalorian” actors Temuera Morrison (60) and Ming-Na Wen (57) return in their roles as Boba Fett and Fennec Shand in the spin-off.

“The Book of Boba Fett” takes bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand to the underworld of the galaxy when they return to the Tatooine desert. There they want to lay claim to the area that was once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his criminal syndicate. “The Mandalorian” writer Jon Favreau (54), Dave Filoni (47), Robert Rodriguez (53), Kathleen Kennedy (68) and Colin Wilson (60) are executive producers.

Further “Star Wars” series are planned

“The Book of Boba Fett” isn’t the only planned “Star Wars” series. In 2022, “Obi-Wan Kenobi” will be released on the Jedi master of the same name (Ewan McGregor, 50). “The Mandalorian” also gets another spin-off with “Ahsoka”. It is still unclear when this series will appear. It is about the heroine of the same name, a Jedi student (Rosario Dawson, 42) from Anakin Skywalker.

“Rangers of the New Republic” and “The Acolyte” are also scheduled for an unspecified time. The first will be about soldiers of the New Republic, the second goes far back in time and is set to take place during the final days of the so-called High Republic.
