The Boys: could the superhero series go beyond 5 seasons?

Buoyed by the success of “The Boys” and that of its spin-off “Gen V”, creator and screenwriter Eric Kripke suggests that the original series could continue for some time.

Initially, creator Eric Kripke had a five-season plan for The Boys series. This was before measuring the extent of the success and that of the spin-off Gen V – season 2 of which has just been confirmed by Prime Video. While The Protector – or Homelander – and the whole gang should make their return in 2024, the screenwriter has reversed his decision.

In an interview with the media Reversehe explains : “I realized that there was no one in history worse than me at predicting the number of seasons for a series. I learned my lesson and stopped planning things like this.”

Eric Kripke refers in particular to the series Supernatural for which he was the showrunner for five seasons before leaving the production, convinced that it would not continue any longer. Ultimately, the program spanned 15 seasons.

His comments also suggest that The Boys series could indeed continue. Will it meet the same fate as Supernatural? It is unlikely that Prime Video will produce 15 seasons, but the platform would be wrong to deprive itself of such success and stop after season 5.

In episode 6 of the spin-off Gen V, the character Soldier Boy made a little surprise appearance for a funny sequence.

Gen V is available on Prime Video.
