The Boys on Prime Video: what are the new Supers of season 3?

Season 3 of The Boys, due June 3 on Prime Video, will introduce several new superheroes. Here are all the confirmed Supers, from Soldier Boy to Supersonic.

In The Boys universe, superheroes are called “Supers”. The Boys team – featuring Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and others – continues the fight against The Seven, the world’s greatest superhero team, run by Vought International. . Several new characters with powers are coming in Season 3. Introductions.

Soldier Boy

Portrayed by Jensen Ackles (Supernatural), he’s Season 3’s most hyped new Super. Soldier Boy was originally a hero during World War II, but Vought called on him decades later to revive a symbol of American patriotism. He is the leader of Payback, another super-team in this universe. While considered a patriotic “boy scout” in the vein of Captain America, Soldier Boy lacks courage and recklessness, to the point of wetting his pants in battle.

His powers are relatively standard: superhuman strength, speed, agility, etc. He is nevertheless skilled in combat and uses a shield marked with an eagle to protect himself. However the series is likely to change Soldier Boy’s backstory and personality, but he will be one of the main characters introduced in Season 3.

This will include flashbacks to his days running Payback and his part in building the Vought empire. Season 2 has already mentioned Soldier Boy as the first Super created with Compound V, so the show has already teased its introduction.

Crimson Countess

Another face known to series fans arrives in season 3, it’s Crimson Countess, played by Laurie Holden (The Walking Dead). She is a member of Payback in the comics and thus worked with Soldier Boy. The first Crimson Countess died on her first mission, but Vought decided to invest in this Super years later. She has heat-related powers that have led to comparisons to Scarlet Witch. Crimson Countess was a minor character in the comics, however, and suffered a gruesome death at the hands of Billy Butcher.

Her role in Season 3 is still unclear. She will be part of the Payback team, probably nowadays. According to Starlight in season 1, she is the most likely to join The Seven. There are also hints of his presence in the Vought Cinematic Universe. If she does go up against The Boys, the comics don’t hint at a lasting future for her on the show.

Supersonic / Drummer Boy

Season 3 revamps a character from the comics known as Drummer Boy by introducing him as Supersonic. Miles Gaston Villanueva will play Dummer Boy, renamed Supersonic after a lengthy rehab at Vought Wellness Centers. Drummer Boy was the co-leader of the Young Americans with Starlight in the comics, and the two were romantically involved – but not sexually.

After Starlight caught him cheating on her with fellow Young Americans member Holy Mary, they broke up. Season 3 has already confirmed that Starlight and Supersonic have been a couple in the past, and there’s a good chance he’ll try to rekindle that romance. Since Drummer Boy didn’t have any powers in the comics, the show might give him new abilities through Vought, like superspeed.

Gunpowder

Gunpowder also makes a debut in season 3. The character made a small appearance in season 1, but the role was recast with Sean Patrick Flanery. Gunpowder is a member of the NRA (National Rifle Association) sponsored super-team known as the Teenage Kix.

His powers are directly related to projectiles and firearms; the series previously used him as an advocate for the Second Amendment. Gunpowder’s role in Season 3 has yet to be revealed, but he could be a former member of Teenage Kix or Soldier Boy’s Payback team.

Blue Hawk

Blue Hawk is also a newcomer in season 3. Nick Wechsler plays him. It would be a priori a parody version of Wolverine, he has hammers instead of hands and a blue helmet in the comics. If so, the introduction of Blue Hawk could lead to the appearance of the G-Men, who could then help set up The Boys spin-off series at a school of Supers.

Moonshadow

Season 3 is also expected to introduce another new character, Moonshadow. She is based in San Diego and seems to be an original character and therefore unknown to comic book readers. Moonshadow’s powers have yet to be revealed, but she was featured on the September edition of “Seven on 7 with Cameron Coleman”, a show that is part of The Boys universe.

Moonshadow is portrayed as an advocate for body-positivism, which is gaining popularity as San Diego’s crime rate drops. Moonshadow may be on Vought’s slate to join The Seven after Stormfront’s passing to bring more diversity to the series’ most famous superhero team.

Billy Butcher

Billy Butcher is surprisingly part of the roster of new Supers in Season 3. In the trailer, he is seen taking a variation of Compound V, provided by Queen Maeve. She offers him the drug to (presumably) fight the Protector as the Boys attempt to find a mysterious superweapon capable of permanently demolishing the main antagonist.

Billy takes Compound V and is shown using his laser eyes to wreak havoc and destruction – as Billy Butcher is known to do. Although Billy isn’t technically a Super, he now has Super-worthy abilities in Season 3, even if only for a limited time. And if it sounds new to some, Billy Butcher has superpowers in the comics.
