In season 2 of the series piloted by showrunner Eric Kripke, fans discovered the origin of the creation of the famous Compound V, the serum to give superpowers to any human being, which dates back to WWII. world and the research initiated by the Nazi regime. When will it be released?
Amazon Prime Video has just announced that Season 3 will launch on June 3. The streaming platform will upload the first three episodes (there are 8 in total) on the same day. Viewers will then be able to discover a new episode every Friday, until the grand finale scheduled for July 8.
On January 5, comedian Jack Quaid – who plays the character of Hughie – warned his fans that he was going to Toronto for the start of filming.
Who will be present at the casting?
The conclusion of season 2 suggests some reshuffles in the cast. The “Boys” band will be back, of course, with Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie (Jack Quaid), Frenchie (Tomer Capon), La Crème (Laz Alonso), and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara). On the superhero side, Homelander (Antony Starr), Maeve (Dominique McElligott), Starlight (Erin Moriarty), A-Train (Jessie Usher), and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) now make up Les Seven, with The Deep (Chace Crawford) still in the background. The fate of Stormfront (Aya Cash) remains a mystery, but she might not go away entirely. Vought boss Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito) is expected to make several appearances.
Two actresses – Claire Doumit, who plays MP Victoria Neuman, and Colby Minifie, who plays Ashley Barrett, Vought’s communications manager, were included in the casting. Which means that their character will take a more important place in the series. We suspected it, obviously, with Victoria Neuman, since we discovered that it was she who made the heads of people in her field of vision explode. A superpower to say the least frightening that should make her the main antagonist of season 3 of The Boys.
Another character, seen in episode 6 of season 2, is about to make a bloody comeback in this third chapter: Cindy. The young woman managed to escape from the Sage Grove Center hospital, where Vought locked up the guinea pigs used to test Compound V. During her brief onscreen appearance, Cindy demonstrated to be able to withstand bullets, and the electrocution from Stormfront. His power allows him to exert pressure on people and objects around him with a simple wave of the hand. Showrunner Eric Kripke has also brought in his former Supernatural colleague, comedian Jensen Ackles, to play a new superhero, Soldier Boy. An eminently important character since it will allow to discover more about the history of Vought – going back to the Second World War – and the way in which these superheroes were born.
During a recent round table, the creator of The Boys hinted that the health crisis might prevent some scenes from seeing the light of day, including an appearance by Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan in The walking dead) which was planned in this season 3. Eric Kripke however hinted that all hope of seeing the actor on the screen was not lost.
What do we know about the plot?
At the end of Season 2, we left Butcher on the verge of breaking up. He witnessed the death of Becca, his wife, accidentally killed by the superpowers of Ryan, the son she had with Homelander. According to Eric Kripke, Butcher will be a man “at war with himself”, in season 3. “There is this part of humanity in him, represented by Becca and Hughie, which is small, but which is there. And there is the other part, the one represented by his father, made of uncontrolled anger and rage. These are the two sides of his personality that are going to clash, because he is furious. He can’t really blame Ryan. On the other hand, he is very upset against Homelander ”, continues the showrunner.
Homelander, precisely, appears more fragile than ever psychologically at the end of season 2. “He feels totally betrayed, emasculated, and in total insecurity”, revealed Antony Starr about his character which he describes as “a madman. murderer ”at the dawn of season 3. The atmosphere within the Seven is also likely to be particularly tense, especially between Black Noir and Maeve. Starlight is always present, which has the gift of upsetting Homelander to the highest point.
“Everyone betrayed everyone, it’s like a home where there is division, but whose members still live under one roof. There are a lot of interesting stories that will come out in season 3, ”said Nathan Mitchell, the interpreter of Black Noir.
Eric Kripke also revealed that this third chapter will feature the adaptation of ‘Herogasm,’ which is the subject of a full-fledged comic book spin-off, an episode that will see the superheroes – who are officially supposed to have leave Earth to face an extraterrestrial threat – find yourself on a desert island for several days of debauchery, between torrid sex and drugs of all kinds.
