Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities (Netflix)

In Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiositiesthe Mexican director has assembled a collection of untold stories that challenge our traditional view of horror, and come to life thanks to the talent of writers and directors selected by del Toro himself.

What could be better for Halloween than a mini-series of horror and spooky helmed by the director of the Pan’s Labyrinth and of The Shape of Water ? Not much, and these eight macabre tales promise a delightfully terrifying journey. The opportunity also for fans of the genre to review the work of directors Vincenzo Natali (Cube), Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night) or even Jennifer Kent (Mister Babadook). After Shaun of the Deaddirector Edgar Wright tackles the pastiche of the action film, with this little twist so british that we love so much. We find in Hot Fuzz the irresistible Simon Pegg/Nick Frost duo, for a detective film that brilliantly combines investigation, conspiracy, gags and gunfights, with intelligence and respect for the genre. From October 25 on Canal+ Grand Ecran and the myCanal platform.

good doctor (Disney+)

Suffering from an autism spectrum disorder with a high level of functioning, the doctor of surgery Shaun Murphy joins a prestigious hospital in San Jose, California. Isolated, he finds it difficult to integrate into the team. But by putting his incredible scientific gift at the service of his patients, this young prodigy ended up arousing the admiration of his colleagues, even the most skeptical.

With its little airs of House, and its asocial hero with almost superhuman abilities, good doctor has established itself over the years as a medical drama with a unique and truly endearing identity. All this in particular to the talent of its main character, played by Freddie Highmore (Bates Motel), but also to the attention given to the autism he suffers from. We thus follow good doctor as much for the fascinating medical cases and the fine writing as for the personal way of the cross of endearing Dr. Shaun Murphy. Seasons 1-4 from October 26 on Disney+.

The Devil’s Hour (Prime Video)

A woman wakes up every night at 3:33 a.m. — the so-called Devil’s Hour between 3 and 4 a.m. Lucy Chambers’ eight-year-old son is withdrawn. Her mother talks to empty chairs. Soon his name is inexplicably linked to a series of brutal murders in the area.

This new series produced by Steven Moffat (sherlock, Doctor Who) remains in the spirit of his previous creations and promises a mix between detective and supernatural intrigue. At its center, the duo Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who) and Jessica Raine (Fortitude) announces a tense face-to-face and a breathtaking game of fools throughout the six episodes of this mini-series. From October 28 on Amazon Prime Video.

Wendell and Wild (Netflix)

Two demon brothers, Wendell and Wild, would like to join the world of the living. They seek help from Kat Elliot, a 13-year-old girl. The latter accepts, but she has a request in exchange. It is the beginning, for the three friends of circumstance, of an adventure that is as strange and extraordinary as it is comical, exploring life and death.

Latest film by Henry Selick, director of The strange Christmas of Mr. Jack and Coraline, it is one of the event films of the Halloween selection of the streaming platform. We bring together his magnificent stop-motion animation, his taste for gothic and his brave heroines. The icing on the cake, the film has Jordan Peele (get-out, Boop) and Keegan-Michael Key, who give their voice to the two strange characters of the title. From October 28 on Netflix.
