The Callisto Protocol will put us in the shoes of a spaceship pilot, Jacob, landing on one of Jupiter’s moons: Callisto. More precisely, within the confines of the Black Iron Penitentiary Centerlocated on the surface of the satellite.
The hero seems to have memory problems, as shown by the flashbacks and untimely visions at the start of the trailer. These could potentially be prison related since we see it be marked with a sort of registration number on the back of the neck, feet and hands restrained in a machine.
However, once there, the place seems deserted. The only traces of recent occupation are posters of missing prisoners as well as blood letters stating ” Shoot the tentacles “. A formulation that is reminiscent of the spiritual father of the game: Dead Space, where the formula ” Cut limbs appeared on the walls, with the same process.
The trailer makes it clear that the problem goes far beyond just the prison, and involves the entire moon, where a former mining colony was left abandoned in the past. At the sight ofa species of parasite spreading among the inhabitants of the detention centerwe could believe in an accidental epidemic.
According to the other character in the trailer, played by actress Karen Fukuhara (The Boys), this is not the case. The contaminations would follow a very specific pattern. The duo’s mission now goes beyond their mere survival, you have to understand what happened in the prison of Black Iron.
The Callisto Protocol is the first game from Striking Distance Studios, led by one of Dead Space’s main creators, Glen Schofield. The game is announced for December 2, 2022 on Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 4/5 and PC.
