Presented as being a Dead Space-like, The Callisto Protocol has once again shown new gameplay footage at Gamescom 2022.
This time, things seem to be much more serious and above all much darker than what we could already see during the Summer Games Fest 2022. The horrific title mixing space and horror makes us understand that death will never be far away, and can be very brutal and bloody.
The Callisto Protocol reveals very trashy gameplay
Officially unveiled in December 2021 during the famous Game Awards, The Callisto Protocol returned to the front of the stage for a few minutes to present us with new gameplay images, footage captured on a next-gen console. Although we already know that this title will be horror-oriented, the developers have decided for this new occasion to accentuate this aspect by demonstrating several evolutions of aliens but also and above all by demonstrating that the game will be ultra bloody. Beware of sensitive souls.
During these few minutes of gameplay, our character must indeed face several monsters, and we see that the latter can, if he wishes of course, attract the aliens towards him through a small gadget and then inflict headshots well bloody. However, if it were enough to fire a few bullets into them for them to die, that would be far too easy. Our little monsters mutate and see little tarantulas grow in place of their decapitated heads, just that.
In addition, we are also facing a second phase of gameplay which focuses on what we could call a run. Our character unfortunately finds himself trapped in a torrent of water, and on his journey, which is actually a long fall/slide, there are several obstacles to avoid (this will remind Tomb Raider fans of certain scenes). However, despite the efforts of the latter, he ends up being caught by propellers and is then literally cut in half. But then, what to understand through these images? Well that death will never be far from us in The Callisto Protocol, and that several obstacles could well be the cause of a brutal and gory death. The environment will be our enemy in a way.
As a reminder, The Callisto Protocol will be available on December 2, 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
