As we learned yesterday (at the time of writing this article), Michael Gambon, famous for his role as Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter saga, unfortunately left us, struck down by pneumonia, according to his family and as relayed by the BBC. The disappearance of the actor has mourned not only fans of the saga, but also a large part of the cast of the films. Many artists have paid tribute to him.

A vibrant tribute from the Harry Potter cast

Daniel Radcliffe, the star of the saga, was one of the first to react, remembering him as a funny, irreverent and extremely talented man. He expressed sadness and gratitude for having had the opportunity to work with Gambon, stating:

Michael Gambon was one of the most brilliant actors I had the privilege of working with, but despite his immense talent, what I will remember most about him is the pleasure he took in his work…

Bonnie Wright, playing Ginny Weasley, spoke of her admiration for Gambon’s presence and performance, describing him as a warm and constant figure.

Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger, also shared a heartfelt memory of “nice, nice Michael Gambon” via an Instagram story, where she wrote:

You never took things too seriously, but you knew how to deliver the most serious moments with all the necessary solemnity. Thank you for showing us how to wear greatness lightly.

Many messages

The creator of the Harry Potter universe, JK Rowling, also shared her memories of the first time she saw Gambon on stage, expressing her love and admiration for the man and the actor. Rowling sent her deepest condolences to Gambon’s family and all those who loved him.

Finally, Fiona Shaw, playing Petunia Dursley, spoke of Gambon’s deep love for his craft, calling him a brilliant and magnificent actor. Other cast members, such as Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) and James Phelps (Fred Weasley), also expressed their sadness and shared their fond memories of Gambon.
