The government has just decided to extend the exceptional ceiling raised to 38 euros, instead of 19 euros. The measure is valid until February 2022.
The exceptional measures on the restaurant ticket were to be repealed from September 1, 2021. Finally, the State has just decided to maintain the ceiling raised to 38 euros post confinement until February 2022. A week before the deadline, Bercy decided not to finally not lower the ceiling to 19 euros, level set before the start of the pandemic and to allow employees benefiting from restaurant vouchers (or lunch vouchers) to be able to spend more at restaurant owners. The amount available for purchases in fruit and vegetable stores, bakers and caterers remains unchanged: 19 euros.
Another announcement from the Ministry of the Economy and Finance: restaurant vouchers will now be usable on Sunday included. Still with the aim of supporting restaurateurs in the face of the health crisis, but also to make life easier for the French, restaurant vouchers can also be used on Sundays and public holidays. It is therefore the status quo until February 28, 2022.
Restaurant vouchers for 2020 will soon no longer be valid
On the other hand, no extension on the validity of last year’s titles. If the State has extended their validity beyond January 31, 2021 as is generally the case, the date of September 30 will mark the limit of validity for restaurant vouchers dated 2020. Beyond that, they can no longer be accepted. used in restaurants or in stores for fast food. However, it will always be possible to return them to your employer to request a standard exchange with tickets dated 2021 and therefore valid until the end of January or February 2022 depending on the case.
Since the start of the exceptional measures related to Covid, the average amount spent on meal vouchers increased from 4 to 5 euros thanks to the raising of the ceiling, while issuers have noted an increase in its use on Sunday between “5 and 10 points”. As a whole in France, the meal voucher market weighs 7 billion euros.
