Expected for July 26, Samsung’s next Unpacked event promises to be loaded. We should thus discover the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, the new range of connected watches Watch 6, but also the Galaxy Tab S9, which will probably come in three distinct models.
Samsung’s new slates will use the usual nomenclature, with a standard Tab S9, a Tab S9+ model and an Ultra version with a giant screen. Several information has already leaked concerning them, but the one that interests us today relates to its recharging power.
By digging through the database of the TUV certification site, a blogger from the Nashville Chatter site found the model numbers of the Tab S9+ and Tab S9 Ultra, associated with technical information.
The Galaxy Tab S9 + would be available in three references: SM-X816B, SM-X810 and SM-X816N. The first concerns the 5G version, the second refers to the wifi-only model and the third is reserved for the South Korean market. The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra carries the numbers SM-X916B, SM-X910 and SM-X916N and should therefore be available in 5G + wifi or wifi only.
The site says these two models will support 45W charging, like the Tab S8+ and Tab S8 Ultra before it. Once again, Samsung has not seen fit to improve this aspect, which has already been criticized on its smartphones. Too bad, especially given the fairly limited autonomy of a model like the Tab S8+.
Even if it is not mentioned here, the standard model should also remain confined to 45 W. Unless there is a last minute change, the block in question should not be delivered in the box. Samsung’s proprietary technology makes it necessary to obtain it, since an equivalent power charger from another brand will not deliver the same performance. This is all the more important as tablet batteries are large and require long charging times.
Among other rumours, the Sammobile site mentioned an IP67 waterproof certification, but also the presence of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy found on the Galaxy S23. All coupled with 8/12 GB of RAM.
Nothing surprising, since it would unify the range and streamline the production chain. For its part, the Galaxy Tab S9 could finally let go of the LCD screen to switch to AMOLED. A wise choice, which would however take away part of its interest in the Tab S9+ model.
