It’s official for Renault, the Dacia Spring
will benefit from a new version in the next two years.

A flourishing success on the European market, with nearly 46,000 units sold in 2021, explains this decision in particular.

A platform produced jointly by the “Alliance 2030”

Renault wants to offer a new version of the Spring from 2024. The information was revealed on February 18 by the CEO of the Renault Group, Luca De Meo, during the presentation of the group’s financial results for 2021. Indeed , with results far exceeding expectations and going beyond the initially targeted markets of China and India, Renault does not intend to stop there.

This is an additional opportunity for Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi, members of the “Alliance 2030”, to concretely translate their declared desire to offer more affordable electric vehicles. The example of the Dacia Spring, available at 17,390 euros (excluding various bonuses) in France at the moment, is the most convincing.

The aim is also to take advantage of the collaboration between the members of the 2030 Alliance around common platforms on which their vehicles will be based. In the case of the Dacia Spring, the CMF-AEV platform is chosen. Dacia should not develop other electric models in the coming years. The Romanian firm has notably reached an agreement with Renault to offer the K-ZE model for sale, also at a very attractive price.

Electric cars: the new models expected in 2022
