Airing in the United States on Hulu last May, candy is adapted from the true story of Candy Montgomery accused of killing Betty Gore. The first is performed by Jessica Biel (The Sinner) and the second by Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets).

It was on June 13, 1980 that Betty Gore, a college professor and mother of two children, was found dead in the laundry room of her home in Wylie, Texas. The mother of the family was killed with 41 ax blows while her husband was traveling out of town. After being recognized as the last person to have seen her alive, Candy Montgomery, a 30-year-old stay-at-home mother attending the same parish as the couple, was questioned by the police. The mother of a family becomes the main suspect when the victim’s husband, Allan Gore, confides in the police that he maintained an affair of almost a year with her, but ended several months ago. The fingerprints found at the scene match those of Candy Montgomery and, two weeks after the murder, she is arrested.
