Marseille Town Hall has announced that it is experiencing a very significant IT problem, which is currently paralyzing part of its services.

Seriously disrupted more than three years ago by the Mespinoza/Pysa ransomware on the eve of confinement and the first round of municipal elections, the City of Marseille is hit again, this Thursday, October 19, 2023, by a major technical problem . The Marseille city explained in a press release that its computer systems are currently undergoing “ a network incident “.

Technical incident or cyberattack?

The event, described as “ technical incident on the Internet network of the City of Marseille » by the municipality, disrupts several services. Starting with that of Allô Mairie, the proximity and exchange service between citizens and city services, which is unavailable.

Other slowdowns in activity may also be noted, particularly within sector town halls and local municipal offices in the area. The town hall indicates that it is working on the complete restoration of the affected services, and sends its apologies to the people of Marseille.

According to city services, this would not be a cyberattack. However, the services affected and the timing (city council monitoring) leave room for doubt. Live broadcast of the latter cannot be ensured. As for the public, they should expect more or less significant disruptions at least for the day of October 20.
